WiFi HotspotThe San Mateo County Library is offering WiFi hotspots and WiFi hotspot/laptop combos. This program provides wireless hotspots with unlimited data. WiFi hotspot/laptop combos include Microsoft Office 2013 along with popular browsers. The devices are part of our In-Luck collection and can be checked out for 7 days.

Who is eligible to borrow?
Any San Mateo County resident 18 years and over with a library card.

Which libraries are participating?
All San Mateo County Libraries will have devices available to check out.

Where can I return?
The devices should be returned to the location where they were originaly checked out.

Are there fines for lost or late return?
Late fees will accrue at the regular rate. For lost or not returned devices, a fine of $50 (hotspot only) or $750 (hotspot/laptop) will be assessed and your library card privileges will be suspended until returned or paid.

Can I place a hold or renew?
The devices are part of the In-Luck collection which cannot be renewed or placed on hold.

Will I be charged for the service?
No, the service is provided by San Mateo County Library. The devices have unlimited data and provide a 3G or 4G/LTE connection to Sprint or Verizon networks.

Where can the hotspots be used?
Service for the hotspots is available in the US anywhere within the Sprint/Verizon coverage area. International service is not available at this time.

How do I know if I can connect from home?
Depending on the service area, you may check on the Sprint or Verizon coverage map. This will let you know if you fall within the network coverage area.
